🏆 How knockout points work — quick refresher before R32

Predictions are scored against the 120-minute result (regulation + extra time). Penalty shootouts do NOT affect scoring. A draw prediction is valid in knockouts — if it ends tied at 120', you bank Exact regardless of who wins on pens.

Tiers (base points): Exact 5 · Shape (winner + GD) 3 · Winner only 2 · Miss 0.
Multipliers vary by round: R32 ×2 · R16 ×3 · QF / SF / 3rd / Final ×4. So a 5-pt Exact = 10 pts in R32, 15 in R16, 20 from QF onward.

Show worked examples (R32 only — ×2 multiplier)

Scenario A — Argentina 2-0 in regulation

  • Predicted 2-0 → Exact → 10 pts
  • Predicted 3-1 → Shape (same +2 GD) → 6 pts
  • Predicted 2-1 → Winner-only (GD differs) → 4 pts
  • Predicted 1-1 → Miss → 0 pts

Scenario B — 1-1 after 120', Argentina wins on pens

  • Predicted 1-1 → Exact → 10 pts
  • Predicted 0-0 or 2-2 → Shape (draw) → 6 pts
  • Predicted 2-1 ARG → Miss (regulation+ET ended draw) → 0 pts

Scenario C — 1-1 at 90', Messi wins it 2-1 in extra time

  • Predicted 2-1 ARG → Exact → 10 pts
  • Predicted 1-0 ARG → Shape (same +1 GD) → 6 pts
  • Predicted 3-1 ARG → Winner-only → 4 pts
  • Predicted 1-1 draw → Miss (recorded result is 2-1 after ET) → 0 pts

Scenario D — 0-0 after 120', Argentina wins on pens

  • Predicted 0-0 → Exact → 10 pts
  • Predicted 1-1 or 2-2 → Shape (draw) → 6 pts
  • Predicted 1-0 either side → Miss → 0 pts

Mental model: the scoreboard at the moment the ref blows the full-time + ET whistle is the score we score against. Pens are entertainment, not points.

Spain Crowned World Champions After Extra-Time Thriller! 🏆🇪🇸

What a finish to the World Cup! In Sunday’s final on July 19, Spain and Argentina remained locked at 0-0 throughout regulation before substitute Ferran Torres delivered the decisive moment in extra time. His 106th-minute goal gave Spain a dramatic 1-0 victory, ending Argentina’s title defense and sending the World Cup trophy back to Spain! ([AP News][1])

And with the final whistle, our Persian Cup has crowned its champion as well! El Profesor finishes at the top of the leaderboard with 362 points, while mahrad claims second place with an impressive 346. A 16-point victory for the AI mastermind—not exactly the ending the humans were hoping for! 🤖🏆

A huge shoutout to Kiyarash, who closed out the tournament in style by topping the daily MVP rankings with a stellar 20 points! 👑 On the flip side, it’s getting chilly for Sep, who finishes the competition on a seven-match scoreless streak. At least there’s always the next World Cup, buddy! 🥶

And finally, let’s acknowledge our AI duo: El Profesor and El Romántico outscored all 23 human players today. The tournament is over, and the verdict is in—the chatbots came, predicted, and conquered! 🤖
